 We are looking for a Site Superintendent – Mechanical Engineer for our NAVFAC projects in Diego GarciaThe candidate should has accumulated over five years of focused field experience in the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems related to fuel storage, fuel transfer pipelines, and pump stations across defense and infrastructure projects. He has demonstrated consistent leadership in site-level coordination, field quality control, and subcontractor oversight.
He should be well-versed in applicable international fuel system codes and safety standards

This position requires relocation to Deigo Garcia Islands where housing is provided and likely includes future relocations to other Pacific island locations.

Responsibilities

As Site Superintendent – Mechanical, he will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing daily mechanical construction activities related to fuel piping, storage tanks, pump skid installations, and appurtenances
  • Leading and coordinating subcontractors during installation of aboveground and underground fuel piping systems, pumps, filtration systems, pressure regulators, and control devices
  • Supervising hydrostatic testing, flushing, pigging, and pre-commissioning of mechanical and fuel systems in accordance with project specifications
  • Ensuring that all mechanical works are executed in accordance with NAVFAC and UFC specifications, UFGS Sections (e.g., 33 52 43, 33 52 13, 23 10 00, etc.)
  • Daily coordination with Project Manager, QC Manager, SSHO, and logistics personnel to maintain safety, schedule, and field compliance
  • Monitoring progress against approved schedule, identifying delays or procurement issues, and proposing practical mitigation strategies
  • Supporting field quality inspections, redline markups, and as-built documentation
  • Leading toolbox talks and ensuring mechanical crews operate within EM 385-1-1 and site-specific safety protocols

 


Additional Experience

In prior assignments, he has worked on few of the below:

  • Fuel pipeline and pump installation projects for military fueling stations and commercial depots
  • Assembly and alignment of diesel booster pumps, centrifugal pumps, and motorized control valves
  • Integration of fuel system monitoring panels, grounding systems, and interlock controls
  • Coordinated works on hazardous area installations compliant with NFPA 30, API standards, and ATEX-rated components
  • Piping spool fabrication and welding supervision
  • Experience with UFGS 33 52 13 (Aircraft Fueling Systems) or 33 56 10 (Fuel Storage Tanks)
  • Fuel depot or tank farm installations (especially JP-5, JP-8, or AVGAS systems)
  • Supervision of tank grounding, overfill prevention, and fuel filtration skids
  • Involvement in leak detection system installation and calibration

 


Certifications & Training

  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification (Construction) or equivalent
  • Confined Space Entry Awareness
  • Hot Work Safety & Fuel Handling Awareness
  • Spill Prevention and Control (SPCC) Training
  • H2S Awareness – critical when working with volatile fuels
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) – equipment safety compliance (optional but a plus)
  • Hazardous Materials Transportation (optional but a plus)
  • Arc Flash Awareness & Electrical Safety (NFPA 70E) (optional but a plus)
  • Basic First Aid & Fire Watch Training
  • Fuel System Pressure Testing and Flushing Protocols (optional but a plus)
  • Hydrotest & Pigging Operations Training (for fuel pipelines, optional but a plus)
  • Environmental Compliance Training –SWPPP familiarity (optional but a plus)
